How to Get More Leads from Social Media

Social media leads

We use social media to connect with new users, build brand recognition, and promote our businesses. A lot of brands put a great deal of effort into getting leads from social media.

Social media marketing often feels like a blackhole when businesses first get started. Many brands don’t even know where to get started when they want to generate more leads. In this post we’re going to look at the most effective, tried-and-true strategies I use to help my clients get more leads from social media.

 1. Facebook’s Lead Ads

Social media ads used to target new members of your target audience are a wonderful strategy in general to get new leads. Facebook and Instagram ads are especially known for their high engagement rates. If you want to focus on lead generation instead of just brand recognition, you want to use Facebook’s lead ads objective.

Facebook’s lead ads are one of my very favorite marketing tools. They were designed to improve lead generation results on mobile ads. When a user clicks on a lead ad, they’ll see a landing page that opens within Facebook. This prevents them from having to leave the app, saving them loading times and data usage. And here’s the best part: once the landing page opens, Facebook will automatically fill out all of the information they can. This means they’ll fill out the user’s name, email, and phone number (if they have it). Users can change the information before they approve it, and submit it with an easy click.

Brands can choose from different information they want to ask users for. They can even type out their own questions and let users choose from answers they provide. You can get all the information you need to sort or qualify leads in one ad. The ease of use for users is exceptional, making this one of the best ways to get more leads on social media quickly.

2. Host a Social Media Contest

Social media contests are popular marketing tools for a great reason: they’re effective. They drive engagement and boost visibility. If you use the right tools, they’ll also get you more leads.

If you want leads from social media, you need contest software. Tools like Shortstack and Wishpond help you create landing pages from drag-and-drop templates. These landing pages are used to capture lead information including name and email addresses.

With the user having a high incentive (a grand prize) to leave their information, they’ll be more likely to do so. You’ll be able to build brand recognition and promote your products while generating leads with social contests, making it a solid strategy all the way around.

3. Use Facebook’s Custom Tabs & CTA Buttons

Sometimes generating leads is as simple as prompting users to “sign-up” or “learn-more,” and the more places you do this, the better. Facebook in particular has exceptional tools that all brands (including non-profits) should be using to generate new leads.

Facebook’s CTA buttons can be placed on Pages, and these can get big results. Facebook has gotten more in-depth with these options, which now lets you utilize partner services like MyTime and Focus on a CTA that increases leads. Great options for this include:

  • Book our services
  • Learn more about us
  • Get in touch with us

You can also use Facebook’s tabs to generate new leads by featuring a landing page in one of these custom tabs. You can keep an offer saved there for new users to find, like a free ebook in exchange for an email, just as you would on your website. Increase the number of new leads you get by increasing the value of the incentive you offer in exchange for users’ contact information.

Want to add a custom tab to your Facebook Page? You can see how here.

4. Feature Referral Programs

Nothing (let me repeat: nothing) is as powerful as word-of-mouth marketing. It’s why UGC matters so much, and it’s part of the reason why social media marketing has taken off as much as it has. If you want to not only increase your number of leads, but increase your number of high quality leads, start a referral program so your clients can do some of the work for you.

Ultimately, some of our best clients come as referrals from other best clients. This is true regardless of industry. Many of your loyal clients will be all too happy to talk about how amazing your brand is, and giving them an incentive to do so increases the chances that they will.

Make sure you make it easy for users to share their referral links on social media; add one-click share buttons to encourage them to do so. You can even ask loyal clients to leave reviews on your Page in exchange for a discount, which can also help encourage new leads to contact you.

5. Promote a Webinar

Webinars (especially free webinars) are great tools to generate, nurture, and convert new leads. Many brands offer free webinars if someone uses their email to register and sign-in, giving brands new leads. They then get to start the relationship with that user by offering them something of value.

Webinars often feel both personalized and personal, especially when users get to engage and ask questions. They get immediate answers, and they’re likely learning something about the brand or product in the process.

Promote your webinar all over social media to connect with users not already on your email list. You can use social media ads to encourage sign-ups and increase visibility. You can even use Facebook’s custom audiences to target an audience that recently visited your site. Use organic posts online, and don’t forget to use Twitter.

Final Thoughts

Social media is one of the most effective lead generation platforms we have access to; you just need to know how to get the results you want. The tactics we’ve discussed above are some of the most efficient ways to consistently get leads from your social media marketing.

Many brands find that using a mix of paid and organic content across multiple social platforms lends the best results for lead generation and lead nurturing; both are essential to eventually drive conversions. Don’t forget to test out different strategies to see what works best for you; there’s no way to know what will work best until you do!

This is really helpful- I didn’t know about the contest tools before, but I’m going to use them on a contest we are launching next week! Going to run some lead ads, too! I haven’t used them yet.
