Best Twitch Offline Banner Size for Your Stream

best twitch offline banner size

Having a professional Twitch channel page is essential for the success of your live stream. The main components of a strong streaming page include a nicely designed offline screen with the best Twitch offline banner size and a memorable Twitch cover photo.

The Twitch offline banner screen needs to be properly designed so that it gives your followers the necessary information to return and watch your stream.

A few things can be done to ensure that you have the best possible offline banner for your page. I’ve summarized everything you need to know in the article below and outlined some of my best tips and tricks when it comes to creating the perfect Twitch offline banner!

What is the Twitch Offline Banner Size?

The best Twitch offline banner size is 1920 x 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9. These are the same dimensions as a standard HD video. It is recommended by Twitch to make sure your file size is max 10mb and is a GIF, JPG, or PNG file format.

When designing your Twitch offline screen you want to make sure that you leave some room on the top, bottom, and sides. This is because Twitch displays some of your recent videos and some call-to-actions on the sides which can block some elements in your design.

How to Make a Twitch Offline Banner

You can use more complex programs like Photoshop or Illustrator to create your Twitch video player banner, but it is much easier to use an online Twitch offline banner maker application like Snappa.

Here is a step-by-step on how you can create an offline banner for free and with pre-designed video player templates! I’ve also included some screenshots to help walk you through the simple process.

First, you want to go in and select the Twitch offline banner size template with the proper banner dimensions.

After you’ve selected the right dimensions, you can go ahead and choose from a variety of professionally designed Twitch offline banner templates or you can choose to create from scratch.

Twitch Offline Screen Best Practices

Your offline banner is an important piece to your Twitch channel. Similar to your Twitch panels, you want to be concise and provide enough information for those who happen to come across your profile when you aren’t online. Four main components that are typically included in a Twitch offline banner include:

  • Your Twitch streaming schedule
  • Promoting other social channels (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Events that you may be attending (TwitchCon, VidCon)
  • Encouraging subscriptions and donations

What you don’t want to do is have your visitors leaving your Twitch page empty handed. Give them a set timeline to come back or links to your other platforms where they can find you at. It’s important to also include some call-to-actions and encourage viewers to subscribe for more Twitch benefits. Prompt your audience to donate which should help support running the live stream.

You can approach the Twitch offline screen in several different ways, but please stay consistent with your branding.

Examples of Twitch Offline Banners

I’ve seen some pretty awesome video player screens around Twitch. Here are three that I thought were well designed and follow the principles pretty well.

The first one here is by user ChanManV who has a nice simple animation of himself in the middle along with a simple background. He also includes his Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube handle and a few of the games that he live streams.

The second Twitch offline banner example I’ve chosen is by user NickMercs. The offline video player screen looks almost like a YouTube outro. The screen includes his social channels, the games he plays, and his channel sponsors!

The last banner example is by streamer YoDa. What I really like about this offline banner is the use of a professional photo and graphics incorporated on top. This makes the screen look so much more professional and really stands out from other ones on the platform.

Your Twitch page is the first thing viewers see when they visit your profile so you want to make sure it’s perfect. Having a properly designed Twitch cover photo and Twitch offline banner screen is essential for users looking to watch your live streams.

Great stuff! i Recently added an offline banner, but maybe you can help me with something; I’m having a problem finding anything about it online.

Some streamers when you go to their channel when they’re offline, a pop up will display saying this broadcaster is offline, it shows the latest broadcast they had as well as the last game they were playing, and for whatever reason, it looks as though other streamers don’t have this pop up. I honest can not find a single reference to this anywhere, no where to set it up, and the only thing I can think of is that maybe it’s legacy accounts (ones created over 5 years ago) that are being affected maybe? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Adam, this is interesting. I’m actually not 100% sure, but I think you may be right with the legacy accounts. If you find any other information, definitely let me know. I’ll try to do some more research and see if I can find anything on my end as well.

Thanks for the help! I have looked everywhere and can’t find a reference for it online. I think I’ll have to email twitch support and hope they can help. I’ll keep you apprised!

    Thanks again.
